Your muse is visiting. Are you ready?

A Conversation Between Ghosts by Kass Copeland

Let's play pretend.

Pretend for a minute that your muse has become embodied (maybe like one of the mythical Greek goddesses) and is coming to visit your workspace. What will she find? Will she be comfortable there? Will there be tools she can use to inspire your creativity?

We've chatted before about how a clean and organized workspace can enhance your creative process. But you need more than just a clean desk for your muse to work properly. Now, let's talk about what else you can do to keep the inspiration flowing.

Color

What colors please your eye and embody the feel of your business? Use those colors on your walls or keep them in mind when looking for office and desk supplies. For me, pops of bright greens and purples make me feel lively and remind me to use bold colors.

Images & Objects

What do you enjoy looking at? Is there a certain artist whose work inspires you? If there is something that you connect with on a personal level - trees, butterflies, a style of illustration - find representations of it and put them where you can gaze on them often.

Words

What words give you confidence? Remind you to stay on track? Inspire you to push and challenge yourself? Write them out and put them where you can see them. Hire a graphic designer to turn them into artwork that you can hang in your workspace.
