Megan Auman VideoVideo killed the radio star, but it will absolutely make you a star online. Videos are the fastest growing content on the web and they’re one of the most powerful tools you can use in your craft marketing to grow your brand and your following.

While filming used to be for the few, rich tech geeks out there, it’s now available to everyone thanks to the profusion of digital cameras and laptops that take video.

Megan Auman of Designing an MBA recently created a whole series of tips for making videos — how to shoot, edit, and publish video content. It’s a wonderful resource, and she shares the important role the new media can have on exploding your business out to new customers.

Having video on your site allows people to find you on Youtube. Plus, because you’re putting out more shareable content, you’ll be increasing your web content, especially if any of your videos go "viral."

So now you’re all psyched to shoot a video, but don’t know what your video should contain, right? Well, here are tips for making videos that artists love to share with their followers:

1. About Page: Why not have a video in addition to your text and photographs? You’ll show off your personality even more, and your visitors will connect with you on a personal level because they not only read your words but hear your voice. Plus, you can share your studio space in the video, which is always exciting for people to see.

2. How-Tos: Get out your glue guns and Martha Stewart attitude to make some magic! Video is always easier to follow when it comes to complicated directions. Show off your skills in real time or share a time-lapse video of your artistic process.

3. Why You Make: Sharing your passion is crucial to your craft marketing; it can excite your customers and make them raving fans of your work. Tell them why you use certain materials, such as reused fabric or 100% fair trade cocoa beans. Tell them what your company stands for and why you make what you do. Are you all about charity or creating a sense of childhood wonder?

4. Interviews: This is a great way to grow followers as part of your craft marketing. Creative entrepreneurs love to tell others about their passions so you’ll not only make new friends and followers, but you’ll both benefit from the change in pace on your sites. Interviews also offer you the chance to shine as an expert in your niche, which adds to your social proof.

5. Show Off New Products: We all get excited about our new creations so why not let your followers hear about it with a video? Let people see how to use your new product, or show how it goes well with a red skirt and some heels. If you’re excited about your work, others will be too!

Video has so many amazing things to offer you and your customers. It not only allows for a new, more personal type of interaction but you can share your enthusiasm about your products. You can easily load your webcam videos onto Youtube and then insert them onto any of your blogs or sites.

So what are you waiting for? Try out some of these tips for making videos the next time you're blogging or updating your site. It’s time to get filming!
