IndieMade vs Ecwid
Ecwid is a checkout you add to a website. The question is where a maker's needs land on their price list. Variations, the thing you need to sell one piece in five sizes, are a $65/mo feature.
Coming from Ecwid?
Export your catalog from your Ecwid control panel as a CSV, then upload it in your IndieMade dashboard. We read Ecwid's own export format, so your names, descriptions, prices, SKUs, stock and photos come across without you renaming a single column.

Ecwid's published US pricing and their own help center, August 2026. Payment processing is separate on both: you pay your own processor's standard rate, about 2.9% + 30¢ a sale with Stripe, Square or PayPal, and IndieMade adds nothing to it.
Where IndieMade wins for a handmade seller
Variations are not a $65 feature
Five sizes in four glazes, each with its own price, SKU, stock count and photo. On Ecwid that is the Business plan at $65/mo; below it you get a dropdown sharing one price. On IndieMade it's in the $15 plan, with variation templates you set up once and reuse.
The site is the product, not the add-on
Ecwid's website half is real, but it's rationed: no extra pages at $5, three at $35, ten at $65, and the blog arrives at $65. Your About page, your press page, your blog and your galleries are all standard here.
Your catalog is yours to take
Ecwid gates CSV export at $35/mo, so the entry plan can't get its own products out. We'll never charge you to leave. Export anytime, on any plan, and if you're arriving from Ecwid we read their export directly.
Built for the way makers actually sell
Galleries for work that isn't for sale, made-to-order lead times, personalization, back-in-stock notices and real Etsy sync. Ecwid tunes for anyone with a cart. We tune for the person who made the thing in the cart.
The math, at maker scale
A maker selling one piece in five sizes and four colors needs Ecwid's Business plan for real variations: $65/mo, or $588 a year billed annually. The same seller on IndieMade Essential pays $15/mo, or $144 a year billed annually. That is four times the price, and the $65 plan still has no galleries and no Etsy sync.
